How do I create an account?

Click "Get started" at the top of any page. Choose your role (Builder, Subcontractor, or both), enter your details, and you're in.

Is Subtenders free to use?

Basic accounts are free. Builders can post jobs and receive bids at no cost. Subcontractors can browse jobs and submit bids for free. Our Pro plan offers additional features like unlimited bids, featured placement, and analytics.

What is the Pro plan?

The Pro plan gives contractors premium features including unlimited bid submissions, featured placement in search results, profile analytics, and a verified Pro badge. Pricing is displayed in your account settings.

Can I be both a Builder and a Subcontractor?

Yes. When you sign up, you can choose the "Builder + Sub" role. This lets you post jobs as a builder and bid on jobs as a subcontractor from the same account.

How do I post a job?

Go to your dashboard and click "Post a Job." Fill in the trade, location, budget range, timeline, and project description. Your job will be visible to all contractors in that trade and area.

How do I choose which contractor to hire?

Review the bids you receive, compare pricing and timelines, check each contractor's profile for badges, reviews, and portfolio projects. You can also message contractors directly before making a decision.

Can I edit or close a job posting?

Yes. Go to your job from the dashboard and you can update details or close the posting at any time. Closing a job notifies all bidders.

How do I find jobs in my area?

Browse the Jobs page and filter by trade, city, and budget. Jobs matching your trade categories and location will appear first. You'll also receive notifications when new matching jobs are posted.

How do I submit a bid?

Open any job listing and click "Submit Bid." Enter your price, estimated timeline, and any notes about your approach. You can also attach relevant documents.

How do I build my profile and stand out?

Complete your profile with a bio, years of experience, and trade categories. Add portfolio projects with photos. Apply for verified badges (Insured, Bonded, WCB). Deliver great work to earn positive reviews.

How do verified badges work?

Contractors can submit documentation (insurance certificates, WCB registration, bonding, CHBA membership, etc.) through their profile. Our team reviews submissions and awards badges once verified.

What badges are available?

We currently offer: Insured, Bonded, WCB Registered, CHBA Member, Verified Business, and Top Sub. Each requires specific documentation that our team reviews.

How long does badge verification take?

Most badge reviews are completed within 2-3 business days. You'll receive a notification when your badge is approved or if additional documentation is needed.

How do I claim my business profile?

If your business is already listed, visit your profile in the directory and click "Claim this profile." You'll need to verify ownership with an email matching your business domain.

Why is my business already listed?

We pre-populate profiles from public industry directories (like CHBA local associations) to help builders find contractors. These unclaimed profiles show basic info only. Claiming yours lets you manage it fully.

How do I update my profile information?

Go to your Profile page from the sidebar. You can edit your company name, bio, trades, location, contact info, and upload a profile photo at any time.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Contact us at info@subtenders.com and we'll delete your account and personal data within 30 days, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Is my personal information safe?

We take data security seriously. All data is encrypted in transit, hosted on secure infrastructure, and we never sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How does payment work?

Subtenders does not process payments between builders and contractors. Payment terms are agreed upon directly between the parties. We charge only for Pro plan subscriptions, processed securely through Stripe.

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

You can cancel anytime from your account settings under Membership. Your Pro features remain active until the end of your current billing period.
